The Grandmoulin (large mill) is one of the best bread knives available. It has a thinner blade and is lighter than Güde bread knives. The knife comes in a beautiful gift box with a bottle of care oil.
The knife's overall length is 36.5 centimeters, and the blade is made of hardened, stainless chrome-molybdenum-vanadium steel and 23 centimeters long. The handle is made of plum wood.
The Grandmoulin is part of the "Unique Pieces from Tradition" series, which comprises a small assortment of knives with a distinctive history, shape, and traditional craftsmanship. Grandmoulin means "large mill," and with its 370 mm overall length, it is truly a large windmill knife. Elegance, high functionality, and first-class materials combined with the finest craftsmanship are the most striking features of this bread saw knife. "Boscher" is the shape of the blade. This name is derived from the Dutch word "Bos," meaning bush or scrubland. It was originally developed as a harvesting knife in the sugar cane fields of the Dutch colonies. Back then, however, it was considerably larger, befitting its purpose. The exceptionally wide blade provides a very straight cut, even when cutting very thin slices of bread. The curved curve of the edge corresponds to the continuation of the natural rocking motion of the hand when cutting. This makes it so comfortable to use. The knife features a deeply ground, hand-polished, wide 8 mm Langer serration, one of the best serrated edges with exceptional edge retention. This serration makes the individual teeth on the cutting edge thinner than conventional serrated edges. This makes them significantly sharper, but also somewhat more delicate. Small burrs that may form in the individual teeth during use are completely normal with this serrated edge and do not detract from its excellent cutting ability. The result of all these features is an incredibly sharp, durable bread knife.
